Balearic Islands, 21 July 2026 – Two projects run by Marina Ibiza and STP Shipyard Palma, both managed by IPM-IMG Marine Group, have been recognised by the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake™ programme.

Developed with the Water Revolution Foundation, Blue Wake identifies and showcases initiatives that deliver a positive, measurable impact on the sustainability of the yachting industry. The two selected projects take complementary approaches: restoring marine ecosystems and advancing a more energy-efficient model based on renewable power.

Marina Ibiza supports Posidonia restoration

Marina Ibiza’s initiative focuses on restoring one of the Mediterranean’s most important ecosystems: Posidonia oceanica. In partnership with the Vellmarí Association, founded by National Geographic explorer and marine biologist Manu San Félix, the marina is championing the Marina Ibiza Posidonia Meadow.

The ecological restoration project will plant 1,500 Posidonia shoots during 2026 as part of a wider recovery programme for Talamanca Bay, where almost half of the original meadow has disappeared in recent decades.

Alongside restoring a habitat that is vital to marine biodiversity, the project involves yacht owners, captains, clients and visitors through an adoption programme for newly planted shoots, turning environmental awareness into direct, measurable action.

STP Shipyard Palma advances its energy-efficiency strategy

The STP Shipyard Palma project recognised by Blue Wake highlights the yard’s continuing commitment to renewable-energy generation and improved energy efficiency, an approach it has progressively implemented since 2021.

Over the past five years, STP has expanded its solar-generation capacity through photovoltaic installations across the yard. It has also introduced battery storage and renewable-energy charging stations for electric vehicles.

The latest step is a new solar installation on the roof of STP’s new changing rooms and public toilets. Together, these measures have already prevented 587 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, reducing the yard’s environmental impact and supporting a more efficient, resilient operating model.

Projects to feature at Monaco Yacht Show 2026

Both initiatives will be showcased at Monaco Yacht Show 2026, held at Port Hercule from 23 to 26 September. Visitors can discover the projects at Stand AL41, Quai Albert Ier, alongside further Marina Ibiza and STP Shipyard Palma solutions for a more sustainable future for the yachting industry.
